The Orion LifeSpan™ MEG Advantages

Compumedics has overcome the barriers of earlier MEG technology with the introduction of the Orion LifeSpan™ MEG. It provides increased precision and accuracy, coupled with powerful, fully-integrated analysis software.

Over a 30-year period, Compumedics has established the “gold standard” CURRY neurophysiological multi-modality brain analysis platform, including EEG, MRI, CT, SPECT, PET and MEG. In parallel, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) MEG team, led by Dr. Yong-Ho Lee, have produced the most advanced MEG brain imaging scanner. Together, this technology known as the Compumedics Neuroscan Orion LifeSpan™ MEG system is transforming functional brain-health in a positive direction.

At the heart of the new system are patented Double Relaxation Oscillation Super Conducting Quantum Interference Device (DROS SQUID) sensors, with higher signal-to-noise ratio than conventional SQUID sensors. These are coupled to optimized 2nd generation axial gradiometers with greater immunity to stray inductances from the environment. Together, this combination enables greater brain signal sensitivity and lower interfering noise than ever before. The modularity of the devices allows for quick, convenient service, when required.

Additionally, a unique dual-helmet dewar enables optimal brain signal detection from both adult and paediatric populations. The sensors are close to the cortex of even very young children, significantly increasing sensitivity. The cryogenics are equipped with a vibration-free, vacuum-cooling system for virtual 100% coolant recycling with continuous 24/7 operation.

The benefits associated with CURRY’s ability to integrate MEG with EEG and co-register these high temporal resolution functional imaging data with structural neuroimaging data including MRI, CT, DTI, PET, SPECT and fMRI accelerated the adoption of the software for both research and clinical applications.

  • Intuitive user interface
  • Optimized for 64-bit, Windows OS 10
  • Co-registration of EEG & MEG, with MRI, fMRI, CT, SPECT, PET, DTI
  • CURRY integrated with STIM2, including eloquent cortex evaluation
  • Individualized head models for MEG, EEG and combined analysis including both individualized BEM and FEM

CURRY™ is the European Epilepsy Consortium's Standard Analysis Platform

The E-PILEPSY consortium is a pan-European project funded by the DG Sanco with the primary aim of improving and harmonising surgical treatment for drug resistant focal epilepsy across Europe. E-PILEPSY has established a consortium of 13 centers as associate partners, with a further 15 collaborating centers to drive this project.
